We Are (One)

Originally released in 2011 in response to the Fukushima disaster, We Are (One) returns as a Studio Edition prepared directly from The Sanctuary, Michael Crain's Vermont studio.

Featuring ZEROtaiko, the piece was created as a gesture of unity, remembrance, and quiet solidarity. The composition reflects the belief that beneath distance, culture, and circumstance, there exists a shared human field. Rather than offering commentary, the music unfolds with patience and restraint, creating space for reflection, presence, and connection.

More than a response to a single moment, We Are (One) is an affirmation of continuity. It acknowledges loss without becoming defined by it, turning instead toward resilience, compassion, and the enduring bonds that remain when communities come together in support of one another.

Artwork

The cover artwork reflects a simple idea: life continues — and how we hold it matters. Mount Fuji appears calm and unmoved, mirrored in still water and framed by signs of renewal. Rather than depicting disaster, the image looks toward resilience, continuity, and the enduring capacity of people and communities to move forward while honoring what came before.
